The Mercury
Problem |
|
|
Most of us have or have had silver
fillings (dental amalgam) which contain 50% mercury. Dental amalgam is the
major source of mercury in the human body, followed by thimerosal (49.6%
mercury), a preservative found in many vaccines, such as flu shots and some
infant immunizations.
Human mercury exposures have been
linked through extensive, peer reviewed scientific studies to a vast
array of diseases, including MS, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Cardiovascular,
gastrointestinal , Alzheimer's, Autism/ADD in children as well as increased
aggression/violence in young adults. We encourage everyone to educate
themselves fully on mercury, it's effects, and it's sources. Only through
knowledge can you protect yourself from this potent and prevalent
neurotoxin. |

FACTS:
-
Dental amalgams ("silver" fillings) contain 50% mercury.
-
Thimerosal (found in many vaccines) contains 49.6%
mercury
-
Mercury is a known neurotoxin and can damage all cells
in the human body
-
Dental amalgam vaporize mercury into the human body
on a daily basis
-
Mercury passes through the placental wall of pregnant
women and through the milk of nursing mothers to the infant and posing
health and neurological risks.
-
Dental amalgam is a major contributor to wastewater
pollution through disposal of amalgam from dental offices and through mercury
excreted in human waste.
-
Dental amalgam is not a necessary substance for any
facet of modern dentistry, since alternative products exist that meet or
surpass it's capabilities.
-
The diagnoses of autism has risen to 1 in 166 in direct
relationship to the number of childhood immunizations given containing
thimerosal.
-
Since vaccine manufacturers started removing thimerosal,
the rate of autism has significantly fallen.
-
High mercury body burdens of mercury are associated
with a wide variety of diseases including MS, Autism, Alzheimers Disease,
depression, IBS, and heart disease.
-
High toxic metal body burdens, including mercury, are
associated with the increase in violent crimes among teens.

in Teens
-
Dental clinics are the third largest user of of mercury
in products in the USA. EPA estimates their use at 34 tons per
year.

"The metallic mercury used by dentists to
manufacture dental amalgam is shipped as a hazardous material to the dental
office. When amalgams are removed, for whatever reason, they are treated
as hazardous waste and are required to be disposed of in accordance with
federal OSHA regulations and it is inconceivable that the mouth could be
considered a safe storage container for this toxic material."

Aug. 2000 "The Association of Metropolitan
Sewerage Agencies (AMSA) reports that mercury levels in household wastewater
are sufficiently high to pose Clean Water Act compliance problems for the
nation's wastewater treatment plants. Although several sources contributing
to the domestic mercury concentrations have been identified, human wastes
(feces and urine) from individuals with dental amalgam fillings are believed
to be the most significant source greater than 80 percent. These results
were corroborated by the results from chemical toilet and septic wastes that
showed that a significant portion of the mercury in domestic wastewater is
from uncontrollable sources such as dental amalgam fillings. ..Based
on this information, domestic waste contributes appreciable concentrations
of mercury to POTW influent wastestreams and must be considered when addressing
mercury control strategies and the likelihood of virtual elimination of mercury.
Background mercury concentrations averaging more than 100 parts per trillion
can be expected in POTW wastewater influents, even if complete elimination
of industrial point source discharges is accomplished."
