The images in this pictorial essay are of a wonderful wooded tract in Shelburne, Vermont called Rice Woods.   On and around these mossy limestone rocks grow a host of beloved wildflowers and ferns, known by fanciful names such as Bellwort, Spleenwort, Columbine, Dutchman's Breeches and Fragile Fern.   Some are uncommon in Vermont outside the Champlain Valley and in New England.
